Community Supper
The Community Supper is The Grove’s hunger and hospitality outreach. For over 3 years, on the third Friday of every month from 5-7 PM, The Grove has been providing delicious, hot meals to our local community. The Community Supper is free to attend with no income restrictions on dinner guests.
Volunteering
Volunteers find it fun and fulfilling to welcome 60-125 guests to a delicious supper. You do not need to be a church member to volunteer. All are welcome. You can work one meal a year or every month. The time commitment is 4:30-7 PM the evening of the meal. You can also volunteer to cook or bake for the meal if you are unable to attend the supper.
Grovers* in attendance share their time and attention with our guests, talking, refilling food and drink and listening to their stories. If a guest’s need is identified the leadership of The Grove works to connect the guest to an appropriate service agency. The Community Supper is a member supported outreach funded solely through cash donations and by the excellent cooks that help each month by preparing delicious dishes and desserts.
*Grovers: The affectionate term given to folks that attend The Grove Church.

Taxable Giveaway
In addition to dinner, qualified guests (those on assistance and living in the Painesville, 44077 area) may also receive taxable items through our taxable item giveaway, which is held at the same time on the same evening.
From the Director of the Taxable Giveaway “Love Your Neighbor In Action”
I came to The Grove because I felt that our community was in need and I could best serve that need here. We studied other taxable giveaway programs and it confirmed my conviction that this was God's will for our church and that I would lead this effort.
Because we are a small congregation, we decided to establish this Mission to assist those living in our immediate area (i.e. Painesville, Fairport, Concord, Leroy Township and Painesville Township). We conducted our first give-away in October of 2015. We do this every month in conjunction with our Community Supper (every third Friday of each month). We started by giving members tote bags along with a list of the items we would like to give each month to the community. The community receives different items every other month. EVEN Months = Personal household cleaning items and ODD Months = Personal Hygiene items. - The Items We Provide Are Those Not Allowed Under Food Stamps Or Similar Programs - BUT ARE ESSENTIAL!
As of our August 2018 Give-away, here are our stats:
* 1,110 bags of items given away (37 per month on average)
* 255 Households representing 1,984 people
* Members of The Grove are encouraged to meet and eat with all participants to make them feel comfortable and welcome as well as pray for them if they wish.
We have some great stories of those receiving our items since we began this outreach. Several of those receiving the items are there each month and have formed a bond of friendship with us. They have responded in kindness and are open to sharing their concerns and needs.
I am a "firm" believer that there are no coincidences - God has placed all of us where He wants us to be and I am excited and proud to be part of a church fellowship that does not only state that they truly care, but also show it by their actions.
